De Neue Photographische Gesellschaft is in 1894 opgericht door Arthur Schwarz. In de winter van 1921/2 is de uitgeverij overgenomen door Mimosa, waarna het bedrijf nog tot 1948 heeft voortbestaan. Behalve stereofoto’s bracht de uitgever ook prentbriefkaarten uit en miniatuur-stereokijkers met bijpassende kaarten (3x7 cm). De foto’s van deze uitgeverij vormen een geheel met de kaart en zijn gedrukt op wit fotopapier. Het zijn geen litho’s. De Nederlandse uitgaven komen in de catalogi van 1906 en 1910 niet voor. Stereofoto’s van de Neue Photographische Gesellschaft zijn meestal te herkennen aan het logo (ineengestrengelde letters NPG) linksonder in de linker foto. Soms staat de naam inclusief het jaartal op de achterzijde vermeld. Verschillende foto’s zijn ingekleurd. De Neue Photographische Gesellschaft was een redelijk grote uitgeverij met kantoren in verschillende Europese steden. Er zijn in Nederland ook foto’s via zeepfabrikant Dobbelman ‘verkrijgbaar gesteld’.

 

The Neue Photographische Gesellschaft was founded by Arthur Schwarz in 1894. In the winter of 1921/2 the publisher is acquired by Mimosa, and continued in operation until 1948. Apart from stereo views, the publisher issued post cards and miniature stereo viewers with matching cards (3x7 cm). The photos issued by this publisher are printed with the (white) mount (bromid paper). They are not lithographs. The Dutch views are not listed in the catalogs of 1906 and 1910. Stereo views of the Neue Photographische Gesellschaft are usually identifiable by its logo (the entwined letters NPG) below left in the left image. Sometimes the publisher’s name plus a date are printed on the reverse. Several views are tinted. The Neue Photographische Gesellschaft was a reasonably large publisher with offices in various European cities. In the Netherlands views were also available via soap manufacturer Dobbelman.
